Welcome to the Official MassDOT Developer Conference Homepage!

Thank you to everyone who braved the rain to attend the MassDOT Developers Conference on Saturday.  We hope you enjoyed the presentations, the workshops, and the opportunity to meet others who are working with MassDOT data.  This effort would not have been a success without the help of many, so thank you so much to all who have attended a MassDOT Developers meeting, offered advice, or pitched-in during the event.  Congratulations to the Challenge winners, and thank you to all those who submitted applications and data visualizations.

The Conference and the Real-Time XML Trial received some great press, including a front-page story in the Boston Metro.  Read more here:

The MassDOT Developers Team hopes to keep the momentum going.  On December 8, we will be hosting a MassDOT Developers Holiday Party.  Though we do not yet have a location (suggestions are welcome but please remember we have a $0 budget for the event) please RSVP and help us spread the word.

One goal of the Holiday Party will be to highlight the work of developers using our data (we are sorry we only had the time to recognize four projects at the Conference).  Each developer will have three minutes to highlight his or her application, web site, visualization, or ideas.  The following is our "holiday wish list" of what we would love to be able to highlight at the Holiday Party:

  • Applications that use the Real Time XML Feed launched at the MassDOT Developers Conference.
  • Applications that work on platforms beyond the iPhone, including Android, Blackberry, Palm Web OS, Windows Mobile, desktop applications and beyond.  As was noted at the conference, it is important for applications to serve as many populations as possible for this effort to succeed.
  • Applications that are accessible through a simple text message.
  • Applications that enhance the accessibility of the MBTA.
  • Applications that help highway travelers and help MassDOT with congestion, incident response, customer service, and mobility as requested by Secretary Mullan (Follow him on Twitter @massDOT).

Thanks again to everyone who attended the conference this weekend and all those who participated in the Challenge.  Please let us know if there is anything you think we can do better moving forward and remember that our Google Group is a resource to all using our data.

We look forward to seeing many of you on December 8th.
